Join Open Kitchen and Learn How Thai Chefs Make Food Taste So Good!
Learn simple ingredients and techniques of Thai cookery with Open Kitchen’s Guest Chef Derek Rugsaken that will transform your food at home. With a few sauces, pastes and bases you can transform relatively ordinary stir-fry, rice and noodle dishes into something so much more. In this class, you will learn how to make 2 important base components of Thai cuisine, as well as how to apply them in three dishes.

Garlic Chile oil, used as a base for stir-fried dishes of all kinds
A blend of soya sauce, mushroom sauce and other flavorful elements to add flavor to stir-fried dishes
Pad Ruam Mit Gai
Chicken stir fried with mixed vegetables, “prik tum,” stir-fry sauce (gf, df)
Street Fried Noodles
Thin rice noodles stir-fried with tofu, garlic, green onion, sprouts, peanuts,’prik tum’ stir-fry sauce (gf, df, v)
Khao Pad Goong
Thai fried rice, with shrimp, peas, carrots, onion, ‘prik tum’ and stir-fry sauce (gf, df)
What to Expect: This is a hands-on, engaging, and intimate cooking class. You will have the opportunity to cook alongside Open Kitchen Chef Team, dine on all the dishes you’ve made, and have fun. You will experience a memorable day at Open Kitchen among a community of friends with recipes to take back to your home kitchen.
*Basic Thai Cooking at Home Cooking Class is a publicly offered event. At Open Kitchen, we follow the related rules and regulations regarding COVID-safety. The cooking classes are limited in the number of guests so we can provide the recommended space and safe environment for everyone. The maximum guests for this cooking class is 16 people. Basic Thai Cooking at Home Cooking Class is $115 plus tax per person
All guests taking our PUBLIC cooking classes will be required to show proof of vaccination upon checking in for class. For those who are not vaccinated, we will also accept proof of negative results from a COVID-19 test taken within 48 hours of the event.
*Registered Classes are non-refundable unless related to COVID and Health-related issues – we will hold a credit for 30 days.
